From Carter’s Mom
St. Jude is something you hear about often, especially living near Memphis. You hear how incredible of a place it is, but it’s impossible to describe how great it truly is unless you are unfortunately fortunate enough to be there.
Over the last two weeks, that became our reality.
Our youngest twin, Carter, was diagnosed with kidney cancer. And through all of it, he has been our bravest, toughest boy.
His surgery was smooth and successful. Doctors removed his entire right kidney and the entirety of his tumor with it. He is recovering well and is so thankful to be back home with his brothers.
Now comes the next part of his fight.
Carter begins chemotherapy as we work toward keeping our boy healthy. We don’t know exactly what the road ahead will look like yet, but we know we won’t walk it alone.
We are incredibly thankful for every call, message, meal, cup of coffee, prayer, helping hand with our boys, and every person who has simply loved our family well.
There truly aren’t words for what it means to us.
And this year, our family will have a St. Jude Marathon fundraising team in honor of Carter—and all of the children and families St. Jude serves so selflessly without asking them for a dime.
